NBA Teams Strongly Considering Brandon Miller Over Scoot Henderson At No. 2

Mar 15, 2023 11:57 AM

Brandon Miller has emerged with the potential to go No. 2 in the 2023 NBA draft ahead of Scoot Henderson. Miller is a 6'9 multi-dimensional wing while Henderson is a 6'2 super athletic combo guard.

"NBA teams are telling me he is firmly in the mix at No. 2," said ESPN's Jonathan Givony on NBA Today.

"I talked to a veteran executive just in the last week and he told me he currently has Brandon Miller No. 2 on his board," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast on Wednesday. "So it is a thing."

Sam Veccine of The Athletic shared a similar sentiment this week as well.

"It is not a foregone conclusion that Henderson will be picked at No. 2. I’ve talked with a number of lead front-office executives as well as high-level scouts who either think the margin between Miller and Henderson is razor thin or just have Miller ahead at this point," wrote Veccine.

While the No. 2 pick is a subject of debate, Victor Wembanyama remains the consensus option at No. 1.

Brandon Miller Calls Death Of Jamea Jonae Harris 'Heartbreaking'

Mar 8, 2023 4:32 PM

Brandon Miller spoke to the media Wednesday for the first time since Tuscaloosa police investigator Branden Culpepper testified on Feb. 21 that Miller had received a text message from his ex-teammate, Darius Miles, to bring Miles' gun to the scene where Jamea Jonae Harris was killed.

"I never lose sight of the fact that a family has lost one of their loved ones that night," Miller said. "This whole situation is just really heartbreaking. Respectfully, that's all I'm going to be able to say on that."

On Feb. 22, Miller said in a statement he never touched the gun, never saw the gun and that it was hidden under some clothing in the back seat of Miller's car. Gunfire also hit the windshield of Miller's Dodge Charger during the shooting. Standridge said Miller has fully cooperated with police.

Harris’s mother, DeCarla Heard, said her daughter had gone to Tuscaloosa with her boyfriend to visit her cousin, who attends the university. Harris was approached

The shooting happened after Harris and her boyfriend went to a club with other friends and then stopped on the way home to grab something to eat with her cousin, her mother said.

While they were sitting in their car waiting for their food, one of the suspects approached the car and was trying to talk to Harris.

“She (the cousin) said they were dancing around the car trying to get their attention,’’ Heard said. “They were like, ‘We got a boyfriend, we don’t want to talk.’’'
